JaRo wrote:After problem with GIF and SWF on my main computer following Windows Update Sept 14, 2016 (see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=60296), I've had problem on my second computer.

This time, 16 updates for Windows 7 64 bit. VideoStudio Ultimate X4, X5 and X6 wouldn't start. I uninstalled KB3175024 and KB3172605. All three are now working and no problem with SWF.

Hi

I had all versions of video studio running. (Windows 7)
For versions up to X6 I replaced the file attached
MUIHelper.zip
(32.29 KiB) Downloaded 837 times

All windows updates were installed, although I have since upgraded to Windows 10

For X8 I installed the Corel VideoStudio X8.5 Hotfix 2 from
http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/suppor ... sion-tab=1
That allowed the program to run, I then allowed the program to automatically install any service patches.

:( - Have read through all the posts, thoroughly searched Windows updates 3x, KB3134814 KB3126587 KB3126593 are not installed. So my issue with X6 not opening has nothing to do with these three KB installs. For what it's worth, I made the decision to no longer upgrade any of my Corel products (CorelDraw, VideoStudio, WordPerfect, etc.) as Corel simply is not customer oriented like they were some years ago. Problems with VS X6 is only one of many other obstacles encountered in Corel upgrades. Corel bought out Avid/Pinnacle and have many issues now with those products. Instead of issuing a fix for previous versions Corel opts to issue a fix branded as a new version just so they can take more of our cash. I've switched to Sony Vegas Pro with no issues.

Good morning « aemurray »,

I also had problems with KB3140410, KB3153171, KB3175024, KB3176205. Just above your post, Trevor (lata) has also mentioned something about the MUIHelper. Maybe it's worth a trial.

Good morning to all,

Made a major Windows Updates (9) yesterday on my second computer. Windows 7 with VideoStudio Ultimate X4, X5 and X6. All three functioned perfectly before and didn't start after updates.

I made a search for MUIHelper.dll of each version copied them to an external drive, making sure to rename them MUIHelper 4.dll, 5 and 6, just in case. I replaced the three MUIHelper file on my computer with the one provided by Trevor (lata) on previous post. All three versions are now completely functional, including SWF videos.

As suggested to « aemurray », it seems that for X6 and below, the best solution is to replace the MUIHelper. Hope he reads this post.

Thanks a lot Trevor.

I'm not the initiator of this solution. Thanks to Trevor.

Well not exactly me either, we are just the messengers.
“Dawncold” was the first to find the solution

Hi Trevor,

I've read the post initiated by Dawncold. As written by others, the MUIHelper.dll has changed the language to English. I haven't found anything about someone that provided this « dll » in French. Did you read something about it ?

Hi JaRo

I did read about the French version but as to date the only version I have seen is the English version.

Hi Trevor,

I've made a post as to « maybe » get the French MUIHelper.dll if it was provided by Corel as a corrective dll (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=60502).

Windows 7 updates that have stopped my VS X6 from starting. You must uninstall them in control panel to get VS X6 to start. This is unless Corel has patched the program yet.

KB3126587
KB3126593
KB3140410
KB3146706
KB3153171
KB3147071
KB3185330

Hi smittyncrew

welcome to the forums

No Corel only fixed versions X7 onwards
Did you try replacing this file:-
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58668&start=240#p332761

in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X6

You should then be able to set Windows Updates to auto to install all updates.

Hi Lata,

I will try that file asap. In the mean time, I found another update that prevented X6 from starting. So here is the new list;

KB3126587
KB3126593
KB3140410
KB3146706
KB3153171
KB3147071
KB3185330
KB3175024

UPDATE: Thank you so much for that file ( viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58668&start=240#p332761 ) , It fixed my X6. It now runs even with all of the Windows 7 updates!

I opened my Corel for the first time in over a month and now this is happening to me. I have X7. I am on Windows 7 and installed updates on the 26th of Novmember.

I have checked all the updates listed here and I don't have any of them installed.

What can I do?

EDIT: Found Corel did release a hotfix for X7 and my program is now working.

Hey! New guy here. I'm in the same(or similar) boat as I just purchased VideoStudio X6 as I was told that is the latest version that would run on my Vista notebook.
Of course....it doesn't.
I uninstalled a bunch of updates that I suggested in the forum to remove but still no go. Is there a specific list of updates to remove for helping X6 run and don't bother with the other update removals?
Also, is there a hot fix for VideoStudio X6 for Vista?
Why did I see in some forum posts after hiding/uninstalling some Windows updates have the message "Do NOT reboot"? That doesn't register with me. Restart? ?????
Will writing Microsoft on my specific case be worth a try?
A computer savvy friend simply said to jump over to Apple and skip the whole MS drama.
appreciate the help, MarkT
