Got MSP8 running in Vista but no sound ADVICE PLEASE

My wife & I had an interview with the local edition of a national UK 'paper, a few years ago. By the end of the interview the reporter told us how he was going to change the story entirely to make it more interesting.

The comment that Tobie Openshaw made, plus the silence from Corel, the lack of vista support, Total lack of updates (when we know a few are needed), and the dead-end upgrade path.... all to this point can only mean one thing..... MSP is alive and well and is selling like hotcakes. Sure.... I live in a dream world too!

How do you KNOW he made that comment? I don't and I've seen what he had to say about it in other forums. It is just a media-created rumour, IMHO.

Hey, like I said Devil... I'm wrong, and so is the article. Why.... the MSP business is just thriving!! It's not that they WANT to keep quiet about MSP's next step up the ladder.... they HAVE to in order to avoid the rioting in the streets!! In fact, MSP is so popular that they have to quell the masses by removing it from the front pages of Ulead.com. And the fact that there is still no vista support.... well.... they only give vista support to programs that they DON"T care about.

Come on ... give it a rest already. MSP8 came out in something like June of 2005. We are now 3 months away from 2008. That's an eternity in the software industry. I can just hear you in 2010...

If they don't come out with MSP9, with full Vista support for the upcoming Christmas holidays (another few weeks to give customers a chance to buy), then the ball game is done. My guess however, is that it's already done and they will continue to sell MSP8 AS IS at least until Vista starts dominating the market... at which point they will quietly remove it from the Ulead site.

I got the same results from the start. It installed just fine, and I could do basic editing without a hitch. But the source window was eerily silent as was the Preview window. I am not impressed with Vista anyway, so it was an excuse for me to upgrade back to XP. Now it runs just fine on my laptop.

i have the same problem on my vista laptop (compaq) system. MSP8 installs and runs fine (windows classic/compatibility option on), but no sound in the source or preview windows. if i render a file, the output files *does* have sound. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks!

That "quick play" preview window thing works great, sound now works on my Compaq laptop with vista in the Preview window.

But now how do i get sound to work in the SOURCE window?? We're half way there... just a bit more and life will be very very good!

Sorry, not quite as simple as just purchasing XP, especially for laptops. What about the drivers? The PC maker should supply them, along with the XP.

Unless the manufacturer has just started making laptops, then drivers will have been made for most of them already.

Granted some brand new models with the very latest specs and hardware may not have drivers ready made for XP, but from my knowledge of laptop sales in recent months here, most have been for students off to uni, and at the lower end of the price scale, models which have been around for some time and already have XP drivers available.

Lenover, I believe is Dell, and Dell here offer XP as an OS on most of it's laptops.

Of course the same goes for desktops.

I went by memory from a chap who contacted me about a laptop problem, I thought he had one of these which from my searching I thought was Dell, anyway, Dell do offer this facility.
