Hello sjj1805:
I *have* done the tests. The subtitle date and time created by the Sony DCR-DVDxxx cameras does not appear on the title track in UVS11. It must be a different format than a standard subtitle that is recognized as such by UVS11. Opening a file from these Sony cameras in UVS11 does not create a subtitle file or a subtitle in the title track or any other track. It only shows up as part of the video content in the main video track.
Perhaps Sony's terminology is something different than Ulead's regarding "subtitle". The "subtitle" created by the sub-t date option is obviously not the same format as a "subtitle" in UVS11 and cannot be accessed or manipulated in UVS11. It can, however, be prevented or allowed to be placed in your video in UVS11. Just remember to set the sub-t date setting on or off as desired BEFORE you start shooting.
See my previous post in this thread regarding removing the date and time using another program like Pinnacle or Premiere. This allows you to drop Sony's date and time video overlay and bring the video file into UVS11 without the date and time *after* you shot the video with the sub-t date setting turned on. It cannot be removed with UVS11 alone.
Okay, I'll say it again: To remove the date and time from a .mpg file shot with a Sony DCR-DVDxxx series camera, open the .mpg file in another program that allows you to open and re-save .mpg files. I use Pinnacle Studio 11. Open the file and then re-save it. Then open the file in UVS11 and the date/time is magically gone!
UVS11 is not perfect. Neither is Pinnacle Studio 11 They are both very good consumer video programs for the price, but they lack many features that are found in more professional video software. That is why they are affordable and consumer-level programs. Don't expect professional video software for the price of UVS and Pinnacle Studio! I find these two programs compliment each other well. I use them both in video projects for their different capabilities.
